The Beginning Of Something New.....

Starting over is hard. But the best thing about starting over is that you have a chance to decide where you want to start, and my journey has started with a school in Melbourne called Mercer School of Interior Design. It has been roughly 10 months and so far I've been loving it (I'm studying via correspondence since I live in Wollongong, NSW).

My journey so far with Mercer has been inspiring. They have helped me delve into the history of interior design through different eras such as Chinoiserie and the Victorian era. The teachers at Mercer have also guided me into seeing past trends in our present times as well as teaching me the important creative steps into developing my own portfolio by sketching and rendering techniques as well as introducing me to software such as SketchUp, AutoCad and Photoshop.

When I was researching interior design schools, the one main trait that stood out to me about Mercer was the encouragement they have towards their students to embrace their own personal interior style and to assist us in evolving this personal style and to blend it into current trends.

So what was my personal taste and trend developments?

I've always been a colourful person. Any room with pops of colour have always been a favourite of mine, I even have bright pink candy stripes in my own bedroom!

Very contemporary spaces with a touch of bohemian is the best way to describe my personal taste. Trend wise I'm in love with monochrome with pops of colour, subway tiles and creative artworks. Mix in a bit of an eccentric taste and you have the interiors of my dream, possibly it might even be what the inside of my head looks like!
